When words fail me, I pick up a pen or pencil and start drawing my hands. I find that sketching is the easiest way to get back into a creative flow state. I’ll blast some music and start sketching. The first few sessions suck, but after a few sheets of paper, a decent drawing of my hand appears on the page.

My mind relaxes and my mood improves. I’m no longer frustrated. Instead, I’m happier because I’ve created something. Once this transformation happens, I’ll either continue with art or get back on the keyboard.
This trick works in reverse too. If I’m feeling stuck with a drawing, I’ll turn to writing. Nine times out of ten, I’ll walk away refreshed and ready to tackle the page again. Try this the next time you feel frustrated by your creative endeavor. If you do, please share your results by tagging me on Instagram!
